Amazon may lay off 20,000 workers, including top executives.

20,000 Amazon employees are expected to be laid off across multiple locations and departments.

The layoffs would be the most significant in the company's history.  

Employees at all levels, including distribution centre workers, technology personnel, and corporate executives, will be let go.

The reason for this is that the retail and cloud computing behemoth retrenchments after a hiring binge during the pandemic.

Employees at Amazon are classified into seven levels, from 1 to 7, and employees at all levels are likely to be affected.

Currently, company executives are identifying work performance issues among employees as part of an effort to lay off approximately 20K people.

20k employees, or 6% of Amazon's corporate staff, have been informed that they will be given a 24-hour notice and severance pay in accordance with their company contracts.
